Appstate is ranked 27th in the first I-AA football poll of 2005. I have 50 yard line seats in row Q (on the visitors side). Perfect.
The only problem is the Mountaineers play only 4 home games. Four. Out of 11. That means they play 7 games on the road including Kansas and ... gasp ... LSU. Last year, ASU was ranked in the top 25 and were 6-3 going into two road games against relative stiffs: WCU and UT-Chatt (TO's alma mater). Should've been 8-3. Ended up losing both. They lost all 5 away games.
It takes at least 8 wins to make the I-AA playoffs (there is an idea, a football playoff). We can kiss that goodbye. So I guess we're playing for the Southern Conference championship (yawn).
I hope those big fat away game paydays are worth it.
