The American Fisheries Society (www.fisheries.org; note: if you click the link the AFS webpage won't let you back to this page [note to self: I'm on the AFS Web Advisory Committee ... why don't I say something?]) is currently considering a policy statement on economic growth. The Water Quality Section's economic growth statement proposal is on pages 5-6 of the Winter 2004-2005 WQS Newsletter. This statement is based on a "steady state" essay on economic growth and fish conservation.
