We think the engineers are rent seeking by pushing engineering grad comparisons between the US, China and India. Here's one reader letter:
I seriously doubt the motives behind this research study and its final conclusion. My trust level decreases when I see people from engineering colleges asking for more money for scholarships in the name of these doubtful statistics. Moreover, I don't think that creating thousands of scholarships for engineers will motivate students to opt for engineering as a career choice when millions of jobs are outsourced to different nations. There are already a lot of scholarships and grants in place for engineers and just asking government for more money won't solve any problem.
