Here is the email I received yesterday:
Dear Summer Reading Volunteer,
Thanks so much for agreeing to lead a discussion this year with our entering freshmen.
Soon, you will be receiving a folder with your summer reading materials. This year, you will notice a number of bookmarks in your packet. The plan is for you to give each student in your group a bookmark when you meet with them in August. The bookmarks have different questions on them and you can use them as icebreakers or discussion starters if you wish.
In early July you will receive information about the Hubbard Center workshops for discussion leaders. Should you want some suggestions for leading your group, you may attend one of the four workshops to be held in August. Finally, we'd like to give you a tangible thank-you in the form of one of our (greatly sought after) Freakonomics t-shirts. You can pick up your t-shirt during the Hubbard Center discussions, or come by my office at 235 D. D. Dougherty the Friday afternoon (Aug. 18) before your discussion on Sunday (more about this later).
Again, thanks for agreeing to share your time and expertise with our new students. They will appreciate it, as do I and my colleagues on the Summer Reading Committee.
Freakonomically Yours,
Summer Reading Committee

Don't forget to cut your hair extremely short to pull off the John Whitehead impersonation.
