Last year about this time I purchased TimesSelect for $29.95. How do I know? My access to TimesSelect articles (e.g., today's John Tierney) have been blocked. I go to the membership center and find that my subscription has run out -- no e-mails from the NYTimes telling me this is about to happen, etc. I then look into renewing and find that the cost is now $49.95/year.
Now, searching my preferences, are Krugman and MoDo worth $49.95/year? Probably.
If AppState has Lexis-Nexis Academic, you can read NYT for free. In lexis-nexis, go to Guided News Search. Select General News, Major Papers--then click Source list and check NYT.Then fill in author, key words, or whatever, and you can get it.
